PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS is a new game from Bluehole Inc. available on Steam in Early Access. This is a very cool and exciting shooter, so don’t let the fact that it is in Early Access scare you off. It runs and works very well. It’s BATTLE ROYALE game-mode will put up to 100 players on a remote island for a winner-takes-all showdown where strategic gameplay is as important as shooting skills. Players will enter a last-man-standing battle where they try to locate weapons, vehicles and supplies in a graphically and tactically rich battleground that eventually forces players into a shrinking play zone as they engage in a tense and spectacular fight to the death.
PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS is being developed with community feedback. Starting with nothing, players must fight to locate weapons and supplies in a battle to be the lone survivor. This realistic, high tension game is set on a massive 8×8 km island with a level of detail that showcases Unreal Engine 4’s capabilities.
PLAYERUNKNOWN aka Brendan Greene, is a pioneer of the Battle Royale genre. As the creator of the Battle Royale game-mode found in the ARMA series and H1Z1 : King of the Kill, Greene is co-developing the game with veteran team at Bluehole to create the most diverse and robust Battle Royale experience to date.
During Early Access, they plan to release updates in 3 phases:
- Daily updates, to improve server performance
- Weekly updates, to push bug fixes & client performance and stability fixes
- Monthly updates, to add new content and push balance passes for game-play
Only in the last weeks there has been two larger patches and small ones every day. But as I said, the game runs and works really well as we speak.
There are lots of streamers on Twitch already and the game astoundingly pulled in 11 million dollars in it’s first week on Steam. It already reports > 70000 simultaneous players on Steam. Give it a try, you will love it if you’re into shooters.
It’s Steam page is here and finally here’s the launch trailer:
